Columbia's Top Physical Therapists for Running Gait Analysis

Pain, inefficiency, or recurring injuries don't fix themselves mid-run. Salerno Sports Therapy offers running gait analysis in Columbia for runners who want to understand what their stride is doing wrong and build a plan to correct it for good.

The Stride Problems That Keep Coming Back

You're Running Through the Pain

You back off for a week, feel better, start running again, and the knee or hip pain is back by mile two. Nothing changes because the movement pattern driving it never gets addressed.

Your Mileage Is Stuck

Every time you push past a certain point, something breaks down. You're not overtrained β€” your stride is asking your body to absorb load in a way it can't sustain.

You Got Generic Advice

You were told to stretch your hip flexors and ice your knee. It didn't fix anything because nobody actually looked at how you run.

Jason Mohn

Jay is awesome! He has been instrumental in solving my knee pain and issues while marathon training. He is incredibly knowledgeable and gave me a full strategy to fix my current problems and work to prevent them in the future!

Dylan Dylan

SST was key to my training and prep for my first half marathon. Jay helped me stay injury free as I ramped up the intensity of my runs, and he was willing to help me remotely when I couldn't make in person sessions.

michael salerno

Very professional and highly recommend! I went to see Jay after a week off running due to injury. I had the Chicago marathon approaching in about 2 weeks and really wanted to be healthy and run. Jay worked hard and diligently to get me ready for the marathon β€” in a short timeβ€” and I was able to run the marathon, snag a PR & BQ. Jay continued to work with me post marathon to make sure I had the tools to keep my hips healthy and stronger. I’m happy with my decision to choose Salerno Sports Therapy for my PT needs!

Lindsey Hendren

Jay has done an outstanding job working with me. I came to him with bilateral elbow pain and have left with no more pain! He is extremely thorough with his initial evaluation in order to prescribe you with the best possible care. I would highly recommend Salerno Sports Therapy to anyone with any nagging aches and pains OR if you want to prevent those nagging aches and pains from happening. Give Jay a call!

FAQs

Common questions about running gait analysis at Salerno Sports Therapy.

What happens during a running gait analysis?

We film you running from multiple angles and review the footage together. We assess your cadence, foot strike, hip mechanics, trunk position, and arm drive. You leave knowing exactly what your stride is doing and what we are going to address.

Do I need to be injured to get a gait analysis?

No. Many runners come to us healthy and want to run more efficiently, build mileage without breaking down, or prepare for a race. Gait analysis works for injury prevention and performance just as well as for pain.

How is this different from a shoe store gait analysis?

A shoe store looks at your foot strike to recommend a shoe. We assess your full body mechanics β€” hip strength, trunk stability, cadence, and loading strategy β€” and connect what we see to your injury history and training goals. Then we build a plan to fix it.

Can I keep running while we work together?

In most cases, yes. We build your plan around keeping you running whenever it is safe to do so. If modifications are needed, we will tell you exactly what to change and why, so you do not lose fitness while we address the mechanics.

Is this covered by insurance?

We are out-of-network by choice so we can work without insurance-driven limits on what we do or how long we spend with you. We provide documentation you can submit for possible reimbursement, but we do not bill directly.
