What Makes Us Different

Training-based therapy in a performance space

Your sessions happen in a gym-style environment with real equipment—not a clinical room with treatment tables. Every hour is spent one-on-one with your physical therapist, working through exercises that directly connect to your sport. You'll know the plan, understand the why, and feel the difference in how you move.

An outdoor enthusiast Dr. Jay understands the things that we do in pursuit of our sports and the associated injuries that can occur. This knowledge sets him apart in his approach to treatment and wellness to ensure healing and recover to return to the outdoors.

Jay was a huge help in strengthening my hips that improved my ability to walk and stand without pain caused by lumbar degenerative disks. I highly recommend him!

Choosing them was the best decision I’ve made for my golf game. I saw noticeable improvements within just three rounds.”

Jay is awesome. Great with communication and makes the session fun. Before Jay, I’d been working on an IT band injury for a few years now with little to no improvement. Now I’m finally on the right track and back to running regularly!!

I'm so glad I found Salerno Sports Therapy. After 5 months of traditional PT, my back pain was still giving me problems. After 4 weeks with Dr. Nathan, I'm able to run without back pain for the first time in 6 months. I really appreciate how they listen to my concerns and personalize my care plan to my specific needs and goals. Not only is my pain significantly better, but I'm gaining strength and confidence in my running. Thanks Jay and Nathan!
Katie McKenzie
I came to Salerno sports therapy with 2 separate issues (knee pain and pulled hamstring) and after working with Jay for a few weeks I forgot I even had an injury! Sessions were enjoyable, I highly recommend.

Questions from Forest Acres clients

What you need to know before scheduling your first visit.

Can I start PT without seeing my doctor first?

Yes. South Carolina law allows direct access to physical therapy, so you can schedule a free discovery call and evaluation without a physician referral. If your insurance plan needs a referral for out-of-network reimbursement, we'll help you sort that out after your first session.

What does a typical session look like, and how often do I need to come?

You'll spend a full 60 minutes working one-on-one with your therapist every visit. Most clients begin with one or two sessions per week, then scale back as they improve. We design your frequency around your schedule and your sport, not arbitrary protocols.

Do I have to stop training while I'm working with you?

Usually not. We believe smart training is part of recovery for most injuries. We'll adjust volume, intensity, or exercises as needed, but our goal is to keep you active and progressing toward your goals while you heal.

Why does this cost more than other PT clinics near Forest Acres?

We're out-of-network by choice so we can spend a full hour with you, coach you through movements in real time, and build plans around your life and sport—not insurance rules. You're investing in expertise, attention, and outcomes that actually stick.

What should I wear to my evaluation?

Dress like you're going to the gym. Athletic shorts or leggings and a t-shirt work best. Runners should bring their current training shoes, and lifters should be ready to demonstrate key movements so we can assess your mechanics.
