What Makes Us Different

Training-based therapy in a performance space

Your sessions happen in a gym-style environment with real equipment—not a clinical room with treatment tables. Every hour is spent one-on-one with your physical therapist, working through exercises that directly connect to your sport. You'll know the plan, understand the why, and feel the difference in how you move.

Proven results from people who train as hard as you do.

Dr. Jay helped me strengthen my legs to better support my knee after an injury. He was knowledgeable, resourceful in his repertoire of therapeutic exercises, kind, encouraging, and was able to show me how much progress I had made at the end of the treatment period. I would highly recommend him!
Katie Buckner
I've been so impressed with all the staff at Salerno! I have worked with Nathan for my rehab and guidance, and it's been such a pleasure. Of course, he provided specific exercise guidance to alleviate particular pain points I have. He's also taught me how to think about my activity and reasonably address minor aches and pains. I completed my first long run training block under his guidance and have progressed each week!

Jay is awesome! He has been instrumental in solving my knee pain and issues while marathon training. He is incredibly knowledgeable and gave me a full strategy to fix my current problems and work to prevent them in the future!

I tore my ACL recently and was out of work due to the injury. Jay got me back on my feet and back to my job in no time. He worked closely with my personal trainer to make sure I accomplished all of my goals! Highly recommend this place
Emily Childers
In four sessions with Jay, my shoulder pain lessened significantly, and my range of motion increased dramatically. He quickly and decisively determined my issues and built a thoughtful and strategic routine that has been tremendously helpful both to my waking hours and – more importantly – my sleep quality. Moreover, he showed me results that were measurable. He is a dynamic, confidence-inspiring professional, a keen listener, and a friendly presence, and I would highly recommend him.

Questions from Forest Acres clients

What you need to know before scheduling your first visit.

Can I start PT without seeing my doctor first?

Yes. South Carolina law allows direct access to physical therapy, so you can schedule a free discovery call and evaluation without a physician referral. If your insurance plan needs a referral for out-of-network reimbursement, we'll help you sort that out after your first session.

What does a typical session look like, and how often do I need to come?

You'll spend a full 60 minutes working one-on-one with your therapist every visit. Most clients begin with one or two sessions per week, then scale back as they improve. We design your frequency around your schedule and your sport, not arbitrary protocols.

Do I have to stop training while I'm working with you?

Usually not. We believe smart training is part of recovery for most injuries. We'll adjust volume, intensity, or exercises as needed, but our goal is to keep you active and progressing toward your goals while you heal.

Why does this cost more than other PT clinics near Forest Acres?

We're out-of-network by choice so we can spend a full hour with you, coach you through movements in real time, and build plans around your life and sport—not insurance rules. You're investing in expertise, attention, and outcomes that actually stick.

What should I wear to my evaluation?

Dress like you're going to the gym. Athletic shorts or leggings and a t-shirt work best. Runners should bring their current training shoes, and lifters should be ready to demonstrate key movements so we can assess your mechanics.
