Columbia's Top Physical Therapy for Active Adults

You train hard, and now something hurts. Salerno Sports Therapy offers one-on-one, exercise-first physical therapy for active adults in Columbia who want to keep moving, not just stop hurting.

You're Tired of Quick Fixes That Don't Last

Your Shoulder Says No Again

The WOD looks fine on the board, but your shoulder locks up on overhead work and you're stuck modifying everything.

Pain Keeps Coming Back

You rest for a week, feel better, then tweak the same spot as soon as you load the bar or push the pace.

You're Told to Just Stop

Doctors say rest or avoid the movements you love, but that's not a plan—it's just giving up on what matters.

Common Issues We Address

We help active adults in Columbia work through pain and movement limitations that keep showing up during training. Here's what people typically come to us with:

Jay and the team at Salerno Sports Therapy have always provided me great service. Whether it's a small nagging injury or a bigger problem, Jay has the knowledge to not only get me feeling better but make sure it doesn't happen again and I can keep doing the things I love to do

Jason Mohn

Jay is awesome! He has been instrumental in solving my knee pain and issues while marathon training. He is incredibly knowledgeable and gave me a full strategy to fix my current problems and work to prevent them in the future!

Dylan Dylan

SST was key to my training and prep for my first half marathon. Jay helped me stay injury free as I ramped up the intensity of my runs, and he was willing to help me remotely when I couldn't make in person sessions.

michael salerno

Very professional and highly recommend! I went to see Jay after a week off running due to injury. I had the Chicago marathon approaching in about 2 weeks and really wanted to be healthy and run. Jay worked hard and diligently to get me ready for the marathon — in a short time— and I was able to run the marathon, snag a PR & BQ. Jay continued to work with me post marathon to make sure I had the tools to keep my hips healthy and stronger. I’m happy with my decision to choose Salerno Sports Therapy for my PT needs!

Lindsey Hendren

Jay has done an outstanding job working with me. I came to him with bilateral elbow pain and have left with no more pain! He is extremely thorough with his initial evaluation in order to prescribe you with the best possible care. I would highly recommend Salerno Sports Therapy to anyone with any nagging aches and pains OR if you want to prevent those nagging aches and pains from happening. Give Jay a call!

FAQs

Common questions about physical therapy at Salerno Sports Therapy.

Will I have to stop lifting or training?

Not usually. We build your plan around what you can do safely while we work on fixing the root issue. The goal is to keep you moving, not shut everything down.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your situation and goals. After your evaluation, we'll give you a clear sense of what to expect. Many people start with a 10-session plan and adjust from there.

Do you take insurance?

We're out-of-network by choice so we can focus on your plan, not insurance rules. We'll give you a receipt you can submit for possible reimbursement, but we don't bill directly.

What makes this different from other PT clinics?

You get a full hour, one-on-one, with a PT who lifts and trains. We use real barbells, force plates, and strength testing tools in a gym-like space built for performance.

What happens after I feel better?

Some people move into small group training to keep building strength and stay consistent. Others just check in as needed when something flares up.
