What is Performance Physical Therapy?

Most people think of physical therapy as part of recovery after injury or surgery occurs. When we talk about performance-based PT or sports performance physical therapy, we’re describing a form of PT that mixes traditional physical therapy assessments with fundamentals of biomechanics and mobility.

Sports performance physical therapy is aimed at reducing pain during movement and enhancing performance for active people and athletes of ALL levels and in a wide range of activities. 

There’s a lot of overlap between PT and strength and conditioning.

That’s where a lot of our work comes in. We educate patients and empower them to build healthy habits. We empower patients to understand better body mechanics so that they can do what they love, address pain quickly, and mitigate injury as much as possible.

We often associate performance with high-level athletes, but this is not the case. An enhanced performance applies to someone working towards a one rep max on their Olympic lifts, a runner working towards their next marathon, but it also applies to someone simply seeking better mobility and functionality at work or their favorite activity.
